Olibanum incense, bergamot with a bitter edge, nothing sweet about it. Then the heart opens up and it's a completely different fragrance: tuberose at full volume, orange blossom, ylang-ylang doing that creamy thing ylang-ylang does. The tension between that sharp opening and the lush middle is what makes this interesting. It doesn't resolve neatly. The base, vanilla and ambergris, smooths things out without flattening them. You can still feel both sides. The heart is where the emerald reference actually clicks: iris and lily of the valley give it that slightly cool, dewy, almost grassy quality. There's ambrette in there too, adding a musky softness. The dry-down is gentle. Cedarwood, vanilla, white musk. Nothing screams. Not the screaming oud you get in some Middle Eastern-inspired fragrances, more of a smoky, resinous presence that just extends the wear. It lasts. People will ask you about it hours later. Where it gets interesting is the base: patchouli Prisma and Haitian vetiver give it an earthy, humid quality, like warm stone after rain. It's an opulent fragrance, no question. But it earns it.
