Legend has it that tea was discovered by an Indian Buddhist monk named Dharma. During a trip to China, the monk undertook a long meditation, but at the end of the seventh year, he gave in and fell asleep. Waking up abruptly, he decided to deprive himself of his eyelids so as not to sleep anymore. Struck by such devotion, Buddha sprouted tea plants with unmistakable eyelid-shaped leaves in the exact spot where the monk had buried his own.
